When you’re getting married, you’re marking the beginning of a new phase in your life. You’re no longer one, but part of a very important union. It’s the start of your life, together with your significant and you’re going to remember it forever. No doubt, there will have been a lot of planning gone into your nuptials, after all, it’s the stuff of dream for many women since childhood. And why wouldn’t it be? It’s your chance to be a princess for a day. Unless you move in very particular social circles, your chance to get dressed up in a big dress and all your finery doesn’t happen too often. And certainly not as something as special as your wedding day!
The thing is, weddings don’t come cheap. The average wedding in the UK costs over twenty thousand pounds, and that’s not even including the rings. Or, for that matter, the all important honeymoon. As a tradition, it’s a pretty fabulous one. What could be better than getting away from it all after your wedding with your new spouse? Organising your big day will have no doubt at times been stressful, and it’s enough to tire anyone out. A honeymoon isn’t just about the romance! It’s a great start to recharge your batteries and start your new life together on the best possible footing!
It’s also easy to get carried away! If you’re trying to keep your books balanced, then you may be looking to cut costs. Now, there are lots of different ways you can do this, but here’s one crucial piece of advice – Don’t skimp on your wedding photos. Seriously. You’ll end up regretting it, and it could sour your memories of what is meant to be one of the most important days of your life.
If there ever was a case of “you get what you pay for,” then this is it. Your photographer is a big part of your day. Do not book the cheapest one you can find. There are other ways you can save money, without compromising on quality. Ask your other wedding suppliers (like your florist or your venue) if they have recommendations. Often they may be able to help you negotiate a better price. Look for photographers who have recently moved to your area. They may still be trying to build up clients in the locality. And yes – that means you might be able to grab yourself a bargain. Have a good look through their previous work and make sure they are going to suit your style. If you’re a carefree sort of couple, and they specialize in formal portraits, then it’s not going to be what you’re looking for.
Whatever you do, don’t ask a relative who happens to be good with a camera – unless they are brilliant, and they’ve done weddings before. You’ve only got one chance to get it right, and you don’t want to have any regrets after your big day. Making memories is important, and capturing them properly on such a special day? That’s crucial.
