Planning a wedding is, to put it mildly, a pretty stressful experience. In fact, there are few things in life that are more stressful outside of buying a house or having children. Of course, it’s supposed to be the most special and exciting day of your life, so the last thing you want is for that stress to get in the way of the joy and excitement that you should be feeling on the day that you tie the knot. To help make sure that your wedding is a stress-free as possible, here are some of the most common dos and don’ts of “I do.”
DO leave yourself a lot of time
There’s a certain romance around the shotgun wedding. Being carried along on your love and planning a wedding as quickly as possible. However, if you’re going to do that, then you’d better be ready for a pretty specific type of wedding. It’s likely to be the kind of wedding that’s pretty sparse and simple, with minimal decoration and not that many guests. If you want something more traditional and with a little more pizazz, then you will want to leave yourself a decent amount of time to get everything sorted.
DO remember to capture the moment
Given how important it is, there’s a pretty good chance that you’re going to want to preserve the memories of your wedding for the rest of your life. Because of that, it’s important to hire a skilled photographer in order to capture the moment as beautifully as possible. There are also other things that you can do in order to capture your wedding day. One of the best and cheapest things that you can do is to put disposable cameras on all of the tables so that guests can take pictures of themselves and each other. That way you have professional photographs and some fun, amateur snaps as well.
DON’T become a bridezilla
We all know how stressful planning a wedding can be, and it is obviously a very important day for you. But no matter how stressed you become, there really is no excuse for turning into a bridezilla. No one is going to enjoy themselves if you’re screaming at everyone and throwing tantrums every few minutes. Yes, the day is mostly about you, but remember that it’s also about your partner, your families, and coming together in a celebration of love.
DON’T invite people you don’t want there
This is something that should be incredibly obvious but a lot of people end up doing anyway. Remember, there is no reason to invite someone that you don’t like to your wedding. It’s your big day so you should never feel obligated to invite someone. It doesn’t matter if you work together if you went to school together, or even if they’re a family member. If there is someone who you genuinely don’t want at your wedding, then you shouldn’t invite them. It might be a little bit awkward but better that than having the most important day of your life spoiled by the presence of someone that you don’t like.
