Sure, the wedding day is all about the bride, and it is her moment to shine, but that doesn’t mean that bridesmaids shouldn’t feel just as beautiful. On the contrary, her friends should shine just as her and complement her beauty. Finding the right dress for every bridesmaid isn’t easy, especially because there is no such a thing as one size (or one cut) to fit them all. Every girl has some good points she wants to enhance and some not-so-great points they want to hide. Here are some tips that should help you choose the perfect plus-size bridesmaid dress that will be both comfortable and body-flattering.
Show off the Best Features
If you are the bride, ask your friends about their body points they love the most, and then find the dresses that will accentuate those points. Got one friend with an amazing décolletage? Give her a dress with a V or sweetheart neckline. Another one with lovely, prominent collarbones? An off-the-shoulder piece is perfect for her…
Camouflage the Sensitive Areas
And then, there are the more sensitive topics – the areas they would rather hide. Some women would love to hide their tights. In that case, they should wear A-line shapes that will camouflage those areas, while accentuating the waist. Although stretch satin provides enough support, it isn’t a very good plus-size option when it comes in its shiniest form. High-shine fabrics can make one’s figure look larger, which will not be so generously accepted by your bridesmaids.
Find the Right Silhouette
A silhouette is basically the most important thing when choosing any dress, and not just a plus-size one, but for a curvy woman, it can make or break the entire look. Here are some basic dress silhouettes that are perfect for plus-size girls:

A shift/sheath dress fit closely to the body creating a classic silhouette. It works the best when your hip and bust measurements are pretty close.

An A-line silhouette is best for an hourglass and rectangle figure, but they are pretty much universally flattering.

The combination of a pencil skirt and a blouse can look amazing in larger sizes especially when worn by those with inverted triangle, hourglass and rectangle body shapes.

Swing/trapeze dresses are great for taller girls, but they should be avoided by petite ladies.
Color Can Make a Huge Difference
Colors and patterns can be used to make a figure seem thinner. Light colors are used to draw attention, so color-block fans can use that to accentuate their best assets. Body parts covered with dark-colored clothing appear smaller; so, such colors are a perfect choice for camouflaging legs, tights, waist and hips. Stripes and graphic shapes are perfect patterns to add some visual interest without creating a too busy appearance.
