A wedding reception can start to get a little boring for the younger members in the crowd. In order to prevent the parents from leaving, the kids need to be entertained. Here are some tricks that you can employ to make sure that everyone has a good time.
Designate a Kida’ Room
Set up a kids’ room that has a variety of toys. You may even want to have a TV setup so that it can play the latest kids’ movie. Look into the possibility of hiring someone that will be able to keep an eye on the kids while their parents attend your reception. This room is a place that parents could take their restless kids. It would give the kids an outlet for their excess energy and the parents a break. All of your guests would thank you for not having to sit next to a whining child.
Hire an Entertainment Specialist
Setup a little stage or area at the back of the reception room. Hire some sort of entertainer that could keep the kids occupied for a while. You would probably want to schedule this person about midway through the reception. This point would mark the attention span and tolerance of your younger guests. Have a magic show put on or a juggling show. Anything that would distract their little bodies from the urge to cause havoc at your reception.
Use Child-Friendly Seating
Another solution would be to reserve some of the table rentals just for children. Set these tables up near the back of the room. As a part of these smaller tables, add fun activities into the mix. Turn some of your wedding or engagement photos into coloring pages. This would include the kids in the wedding while giving them something to focus their interests.
Play Family Tailored Songs
Alternate your playlist with family-friendly songs. This can get all of your guests up and moving to the music. You may want to play these types of songs in-between serving courses. Your younger guests will be able to sit and eat if they can move a little bit first. It can also be a great way to make sure that everyone is served while they’re away from the tables. No one has to sit and stare longingly at someone else’s meal.
Being more family-friendly at your wedding reception can make the experience more enjoyable for everyone. Often, children are left out of celebrating these types of occasions.
