The most obvious way to save on wedding invitations is to make them yourself. That being said, this is a tip that most couples also overlook. No one wants to send out sloppy-looking invites to their nearest and dearest and many would also rather not go through the hassle of making them in the first place. 2. Use Your Own Cardstock
Many invitation and wedding stationery stores charge you separately for paper and printing. This means that you’re not necessarily bound to buying cardstock from their store. Keeping that in mind, you can cut the cost of the paper itself significantly by purchasing cheaper cardstock at a discount store. For fancier invites, you can use cheap paper for response cards instead.
3. Order A Few Extras
Last minute guest additions are not uncommon for weddings, and neither are invitations lost in the mail. Because of this, you should ask for an extra ten or so invitations when you put in your order. If you have to print additional invites at the last minute, your stationer could charge extra in rush fees. Having these invitations ready to go now saves you from having to splash out later.

6. Don’t Forget To Proofread
Whether you invite your guests online or on paper, you need to make sure that proofread your invitations. In fact, do so a few times and then ask a few friends to go over them too.
