The proposal is the second most important day of your life, after the wedding of course. You need to make sure that every single detail is perfect. There are all of the obvious things like buying a ring, finding the ideal place to propose and planning exactly what you’re going to say. But there are plenty of other tiny details that are just as important but all too forgotten. If you want things to run smoothly, make sure that you don’t forget these details.
Insurance
After you’ve spent so long looking over loads of different rings to find the perfect one, then spending a big chunk of money on it, you need to make sure it’s protected. People often forget about insuring the engagement ring because they think it’ll be covered on their normal home insurance policy. The thing is, most policies won’t cover such an expensive item outside of the home. If the worst does happen and it ends up getting lost, you’ll regret not getting an insurance policy for it so sort it out as soon as you’ve bought the ring.
Photographer
This is going to be one of the biggest moments in your life so you’ll want to document it. But when you’re focused on the proposal itself, you don’t want to be messing around trying to get photos as well. You also don’t want to risk blowing the surprise by having a photographer hanging around in plain sight. Luckily, you can get a surprise engagement photographerand go through the plan with them beforehand. They’ll make themselves scarce until the big moment and then get some great snaps so you can both remember the moment forever.
Pick The Right Time
Choosing the right time for a proposal takes a lot more thought than people often realize. For example, you don’t want to propose in the evening mid-week if you’ve both got to go to work the next day because you won’t be able to stay out late celebrating your new engagement. You should also consider how busy your schedules are at the moment. If you’ve got big projects coming up at work etc. you don’t want that stress to interfere with your big moment. Try to pick a time when things are relaxed for both of you.
The Parents Blessing
Getting their parents blessing before you ask for their hand in marriage is a fairly old tradition that a lot of people don’t deem necessary anymore. Even if you think that it’s a bit outdated, you should consider your partner’s family. If they’re a traditional family then they’ll appreciate you speaking to them before you propose. Deciding not to do it can cause some contention and that’s not the way that you want to start married life with your partner. You don’t have to make a big deal out of it, just call them up or drop round to see them and tell them that you plan to propose.
Don’t forget these smaller details when you’re planning a proposal if you want things to be perfect.
