Your wedding day is a unique day for you. What would you say to wear bridal accessories that are unique too?
If you are a fan of DIY projects, you can make your own accessories for your big day. Here’s an example of how to make a handmade hairpiece with copper wire and clear crystals.
The materials you are going to need are:
- copper wire 0,4mm
- copper wire 0,8mm
- crystal beads with holes
- a pen
Of course you can choose the colors you prefer. For instance, you can use silver wire or pink crystals.
For the length of the thicker wire you are going to measure the part of your head you are going to cover and multiply it by 4. Then bend this wire in the middle so that you can make a round edge like a hoop. You can create it using the tip of a pen or another round object.
When the first hoop is ready, twist the wire twice and using the pen again go on making hoops but not round ones this time. If you don’t press the wire completely onto the pen you are going to make leaf shaped holes. After each hole twist the wire until your piece is complete.
Seal your creation with another hoop at the end. If you feel your hairpice is too long, you can cut the rest of the wire.
When you have finished the first part of your hairpiece, bend it so that it takes your head’s shape.
Now you can start tying the thinner wire around the thicker one. Start from the edge. Wrap it around and inside every hole pass 3 crystal beads (or as many you can fit). When you have reached at the other edge, wrap the wire and cut any extra.
You don’t have to use the whole wire at once. It is easier to use a shorter piece and when it is about to finish, you can wrap its edge and start another piece again. It is impossible anyway to know how much wire you are going to need.
Finally, to attach the hairpiece on your hair you can use either bobby pins or ribbons at the two edges.
