Favors are a really nice gesture that most couples like to include in their wedding. They are small gifts that the couple leave at everyone’s setting on the reception tables. Small and affordable, they are an easy way to say thank you to everyone for coming, and get rid of all the post-wedding hassle that sending out thank-you notes often brings.
Not too sure what kind of favors you should treat your wedding guests too? Here are some of our cute ideas.
Sugared Almonds
Lots of couples like to give their guests a sweet treat that they can enjoy at the reception or take home with them. A popular option is sugared almonds. You can usually buy these from sweet shops gift wrapped all ready to simply be placed on each guest’s table setting. Alternatively, if you want to keep things cheap, you can have a go making your own. There are many recipes online, including this one here.
Tulips
Flowers are also often given as favors, and most couples like to leave a single rose or tulip for each guest. Tulips are by far cheaper than buying a load of roses, so this is what we recommend. If you can’t afford to buy fresh flowers, you might want to test out your origami skills and make some paper tulips. Use some colored paper so that they are super pretty!
Photographs
There is a current trend for couples to have a pre-wedding shoot. This often takes place a couple of weeks before the big day. It’s a nice idea to ask the photographer if it’s possible to buy some small photos from the shoot to give to guests as favors. You can then write a personalized thank-you note on the back of your photos for your guests to keep as a memento of the day.
Origami Figures
I’ve already mentioned making origami tulips, but what about making a few different figures as well? Children will love receiving a paper jumping frog that they can play with while they wait for their food. And all your adults guest will coo over beautiful origami swans and flowers. It’s a guaranteed way to put a smile on everyone’s face!
A Charitable Donation
Of course, your favors don’t have to be physical. Lots of couples now choose to give a generous charitable donation in the name of all their guests. This has become so popular recently that many charities now let couples do this. In return for a donation, they will provide you with name cards for your tables that come with their logo on and a small message explaining to the guests that you have donated money to a charity in their name.
Your favors don’t have to be boring and traditional if you don’t want them to be. As you can see, there is a wide variety you can choose from. No matter which ones you pick, I’m sure that all your guests will love them!
So, which one will you choose?
